After 4 years teaching Years 5 and 6, I've taken on a new exciting role. I am responsible for constructing and developing an outdoor learning environment, beginning with an allotment where the children will be able to plant, nurture and harvest a variety of fruit and vegetables. I am also building a culture of reading for pleasure and spend as much time as possible sharing my love of books with children across KS2. The rest of the time, I teach.

Part time Teacher / Tutor for Key Stage 2 Maths & English

A little career detour into Social Media Marketing - great experience working for dynamic husband and wife team Markus and Samantha Warwick as they developed their first product ready for launch in the nursery market. The compact, wearable, agile stroller, "Omnio" folded down to cabin baggage size, could be worn as a rucksack, and had innovative wheels that make it incredibly easy to steer. With widespread interest in the Nursery sector, and numerous awards throughout the development and prototype stages, this pushchair was predicted to disrupt the market. Pre-ordered strollers were successfully distributed in November 2016, and the first UK stores received stock in spring 2017. As a new brand, launching a premium product into a crowded market at a particularly "exciting" time was a big leap of faith. If anyone could make it work, the Warwicks would have! I initially joined Innovation Makers on a part time basis, specifically to help grow a Twitter following. I undertook Digital Marketing courses online and expanded my role into coordinating the variety of marketing required for a new product launch. The website was completely updated and included articles written by my alter-ego Mama Omnio as well as videos and reviews; the PR plan become more detailed; and Twitter was joined by Facebook and Instagram. It was an interesting and exciting detour, but I missed teaching...

Houseparent for thriving mixed day and boarding house for Year 7 and 8 pupils at Christ College Brecon. Together with my husband, we ran a happy, busy and productive house, where children felt valued and cared for. It was parenting on a grand scale, and we loved it.Year 8 Tutor - responsible for supporting academic and pastoral care of group of pupils within the house, celebrating with them their many achievements throughout the year.KS3 Maths teacher, with a particular strength in developing the skills of pupils who found the subject more difficult. Also taught Personal, Social and Health Education.Excursion and activity planning - organising weekly excursions for boarders as well as coordinating the extra-curricular activities of the 60+ children in the house. This involved close liaison with Music, Drama and Sports teachers in particular.Budget management - for the food, equipment, transport and social side of the house. In order to improve communication between Alway House and the parents and wider community, and also to support the Marketing department, I set up and ran the house Twitter account.Close liaison with Social Services, as we successfully included a care-experienced child into the boarding house.

Boarding House rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted Jan 2008 and June 2011.Coordinated busy activity programme and special functions, including those designed to attract new boarders.Communication: close liaison with parents, guardians, teaching staff, EAL staff, bursary, office, kitchens.Manager of Matrons - supervised and appraised staff responsible for all laundry and clothing, including 2nd hand uniform shop. Worked in conjunction with part time Nurse to take responsibility for the health and welfare of all boarders and provide 24 hour emergency first aid cover for the school.Coordinated Gap student recruitment, induction, timetabling and management. Contributed copy and images to weekly newsletter.

Founded and ran a successful business designed to meet developmental, social/emotional and practical needs of children (and their parents) from babies to teenagers.Liaised closely with Social Services with regard to children on "At Risk" register.Fully responsible for all daily activities, catering, marketing, health & safety and financial management.

Recruited to strengthen the Management team, as Head of KS2, in a school identified by Ofsted as having Serious Weaknesses. My key role was to lead by example, providing practical and moral support for teaching and other staff.As SENCO, I presented INSET and revised systems in accordance with new Code of Practice. Worked closely with individual children, their assistants, and Educational Psychologist.As Assessment Coordinator, devised and implemented simplified procedure for tracking performance in Literacy and Numeracy year on year.Year 6 teacher - high expectations resulted in improved behaviour and work ethic. KS2 SATs far exceeded targets, particularly in Science.
