I have always enjoyed solving problems - the trickier the better. And I particularly like working with others to understand problems and develop solutions which will have a positive impact on people.As the Employer Liaison Adviser for the General Medical Council for the South East of England, I work with senior leaders across the health sector, including the NHS, private and voluntary and community sectors, to support and advise on fitness to practice, revalidation and other regulatory matters.Prior to joining the GMC, I had a successful career in the Department of Health and Social Care working on a range of difficult health policy and system problems, mainly in the patient safety and investigation space. I’m particularly proud of the introduction of Controlled drugs accountable officers after the Shipman Inquiry; providing oversight for the high security hospitals to keep them safe and secure; and leading the Inquiries and Investigations team on numerous challenging issues including the Infected Blood Inquiry, the David Fuller case and the establishment of the Health Services Safety Investigation Body.I’m passionate about the value of volunteering and am an experienced charity trustee, having served on the Board of two national charities (Cruse Bereavement Support and now Pause, Creating Space for Change).
