Alongside director duties and sustainability consultancy, a large part of the role includes presenting to farmer and rural professional groups on topics including carbon management, regenerative farming and soil and nutrient management, including farmer discussion groups and various dairy and beef groups.Key skills learnt in this role include understanding of agricultural carbon calculators and greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and mitigation measures alongside communication skills, with a large part of the role involving explaining complex issues in a simple and practical manner with various groups of people.

Agronomist based in Cumbria with a key focus on improving forage production and management on livestock farms and a special interest in on-farm carbon management and agricultures net-zero target. Daily role includes assessing crops/grassland/soils and liaising with clients on improving on-farm crop production and tailoring my approach to each individual farm towards their needs with a particular emphasis on crop costings and ensuring farm profitability.Responsible for the Cumbrian Regional Technology site where various cropping trials are held and holding open days attended by over one hundred farmers as well as producing technical publications from the site for both agronomists and farmers. Skills learnt in this position include ability to communicate well with farmers and use technical information in practical situations.
