I am a lifelong resident of Conklin, Michigan. I attended Coopersville High School and Michigan State University. My husband, Alvin, and I own and operate Ridgeview Orchards, a six generation family fruit farm. Ridgeview Orchards is truly a family farm with multiple generations working together to grow and pack the most wonderful apples for the wholesale market.I have served on the Michigan Farm Bureau Ag Labor Advisory Board as well as the American Farm Bureau Ag Labor Issue Advisory committee. I have also served on the USDA Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee where I developed recommendations for submission to the Secretary of Agriculture on issues affecting the U.S. produce industry.Additionally, I am on the Coopersville Library Board, am an active Chairperson of the Chester Township Planning Commission, and am a member of the Sparta Area Migrant Resource Council. Most importantly of all, I am mother to six wonderful children, and a grandmother to eight amazing grandchildren.I am running for position of Chester Township Clerk to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the community, and look to follow through on successfully implementing new policies.I believe the most important roles of local government are to plan for the future, to keep spending under control, and to take into account future ramifications of decisions and future liabilities.I strongly believe that it is vital for citizens to have the opportunity to share ideas with the board. Even the smallest gestures can have a big impact on the community. I am committed to ensuring all voices are heard and positive change is implemented.
