I have worked in 3D virtual reality visualisation and GIS application areas of both industrial practice and research development in town /environment planning, building design and historical building landscape conservation sectors for many years. In 3D visualization aspect, I am familiar with various 3D modeling and animation software packages, such as 3D Max/Viz, AutoCAD, Poser, and developing 3D virtual reality interactive web sites with VRML to deliver 3D models to remote online users. Apart from modeling and visualizing buildings and urban environments, I am also able to model and visualize the various analysis or real-world surveying data in 3D environments, such as monitored or predicted flooding data, CFD analysis data for fire smoking, thermal transmission, wind study and traffic flow data, etc. This can improve the representation of various scientific analyses of urban and built environments. In the area of GIS application, I can manipulate ArcGIS 9.2/10 and other products of ESRI, such as ArcScene and ArcSDE to support various geospatial processing and analyses, including digitizing, data extraction and visualizing, geospatial analysis techniques, 3D data importing, exporting and analysis (including 3D terrain model/data and LIDAR data) and geospatial database maintenance (including server-based geospatial data). I am also familiar with various statistical data sources from the National Census, ONS, the Environment Agency, Defra, Shelter, NOMIS, CASWeb and so on, and the relevant geospatial boundaries, such as OSMM, COA, SOA, Postcode boundaries, etc. During my working in the Environment Agency and the Faber Maunsell, I undertook a number of geospatial analysis for various urban development projects and the feasibility studies for some large government project initiatives.
