Responsible for managing commissioning social work team ( 6 social workers, 4 community care workers and two administrators) through the following processes:- completion of emergency and/or complex community care assessments, negotiation and management of complex care packages, protection of vulnerable adult investigations and the negotiation of funding strategies. Specific responsibilities of the team were the closing of large hospital campus provision for individuals with learning disabilities and modernising of day service provision for individuals with learning disabilities although role of senior practitioner involved the provision of cover for all social work teams including residential units, generic commissioning teams, day services and emergency duty teams.

Leicester City

Responsible for assessing the needs of individuals and for commissioning care packages aimed at meeting assessed needs. Held a varied and complex case load of service users with profound and multiple learning disabilities , challenging behaviours, autism, mental health diagnoses and physical disabilities.

South Lodge Day Centre/Leicester City

Worked as both a day centre officer and as a day services development officer during this period. The latter role being involved in the planning, developing and provision of alternative day services to reduce dependence on local authority day service provision. Involved the use of pro active measures to seek and develop new and innovative community based initiatives via liaison and partnership working with a wide range of organisations and individuals.

Leicester

The Rathbone Employment and Education Project was funded jointly by European Social Funding and Leicestershire County Council to provide basic work preparation training for people with learning disabilities and complex needs - this included development of employment opportunities and support into employment for individuals. Initially working as a training and employment support worker delivering training programmes and supporting individuals into employment I progressed to the role of Project Manager with responsibility for all aspects of the management of the project including the development of new initiatives and the securing of on going funding.
