For the first 6 years of my career I have worked as a quantity surveyor for one of the largest "blue chip" main contractors within the construction industry. During this time I was involved in many types of projects from infrastructure to high end new builds in and around London. All of which have aided my development and given me an excellent foundation and strong work ethic. The next step in my career has lead me to working for a medium sized main contractor who works mainly in the retail sector. The company has given me greater independence and exposure to running my own projects. Which I thoroughly enjoy and thrive on.After my maternity leave I started working freelance for a subcontractor and enjoyed working in a different side of construction, with working as a main contractor for such a long time I think enables you to understand the processes and requirements needed to enable you to be a more efficient subcontractor QS. From that my husband and I decided to set up our own subcontractor firm, he had been working in the industry for 12years at that point and me 10, it was time for a change and this we believed to be a great challenge to embark on.
