Profile bio

About Helen Holden

As a successful project manager, I have developed creative and inspiring community arts projects and am passionate about using the arts as a vehicle to teach and engage with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. I trained as a Fine Artist and whilst I loved my practice I have also loved supporting people in accessing all forms of arts and culture, and utilising creative approaches with the aim to improve confidence, self-esteem and general health and wellbeing.I have extensive experience of developing and facilitating arts based education programmes and prior to setting up as a freelancer I worked for a large arts organisation for nearly 12 years, managing and delivering informal education and community projects. I am highly experienced in working with many diverse community groups, and have delivered a vast array of engagement activities from one-off events, to workshops through to in-depth project work. II have a natural ability to connect with people whether they are from grassroots community groups, key workers or at senior management level. I have enjoyed both working within and managing successful teams of people but I’m equally at ease working off my own initiative which is essential when working as a freelancer.I have managed both core programmes and externally funded projects and have the skills needed to multi-task within a project. I have been praised for having the unique combination of being a highly organised manager with the creative ability and ideas to match.I am enthusiastic, hardworking and open-minded and my personal qualities include kindness, sensitivity, empathy and positivity. I am truly passionate and sincere in my approach to working with under-represented or disadvantaged groups and I am looking to work with organisations to help them fulfil and develop their widening participation and social inclusion agendas with local communities.

Listed skills include Community Engagement, Project Management, Museums, Community Outreach, and 18 others.
