I write hopeful speculative and queer fiction, and am currently working on a fantasy novel with steampunk and solarpunk elements, about history, humanity and unexpected consequences.I have an MA with distinction in Creative Writing from York St John University, and run the Writing Tree, an organisation offering online creative writing tuition and support as well as publishing services.I am also a creative writing tutor, teaching for Converge, a project at York St John University which offers educational opportunities for people who use mental health services, and for The University of York’s Lifelong Learning Centre.I am a freelance writer on topics including mental health, writing for wellbeing and social and educational research, and a charity fundraiser.My fiction publications include ‘Smoke’ in the anthology ‘Forest’, ‘Seeds of White Water‘ on the Terra Two Archive and ‘Women of White Water’ in ‘Glass and Gardens: Solarpunk Summers’. My winning entry in the @SFFiction competition is published in Serious Flash Fiction 4.I have also had academic work published in journals and books, on the subject of teaching and learning in postcompulsory education and student drop out.I am passionate about learning and writing, and love to see my students blossom in confidence in their own creativity, whatever the form and purpose of their writing.
