Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce is the champion of Inverclyde businesses, providing services to improve business representation, networking, knowledge, awareness and performance with a focus on growing and developing the Inverclyde Community of Businesses. The Chamber was incorporated by Royal Charter over 200 years ago. I was engaged by the board to deliver successful bi-centenary celebrations and to guide the Chamber through the transition from Greenock Chamber of Commerce to the larger region of Inverclyde. It was exciting and interesting being part of this process and engaging with the Privy Council and Scottish Government to implement a supplementary charter enabling this historical change. Being part of the wider Scottish Chamber network allowed me the opportunity to represent and support Inverclyde business interests at key points in the business calendar.During my time with the Chamber I helped grow membership, increased membership engagement and improved financial performance. The highlight of the Chamber year is the Annual Bees Knees awards and I was heavily engaged in developing judging criteria and coaching both the members and the sponsors to increase the business value to each organisation of participating in this event.
