Devices include stents, delivery system catheters, guidewires, microcatheters, dialysis catheters, biologic and prosthetic grafts, and heart valves. • Analyzed, processed, and produced reports from generated data which is then submitted to the FDA by the client for medical device approval.• Qualified to execute 40+ BDC Laboratories test methods including the following ISO 17025 accredited methods: dynamic compliance, radial durability, and coating integrity & acute particulate characterization. • Wrote test protocols for each project based on client testing requirements, incorporating current BDC Laboratories SOPs where available, and developing new SOPs as needed including BDC Laboratories test methods in compliance with current ASTM, ISO, and ANSI standards. • Developed a BDC Laboratories test method to measure magnetically induced torque in an MR environment for ISO 17025 accreditation. This included procedural test methods, safety considerations and training documents.• Maintained testing equipment, including daily and periodic inspections, troubleshooting as needed, and ensuring current calibrations prior to use.• Trained new employees on current SOPs, executing test methods, data analysis, and report writing. Technically review reports, new test methods, and new SOPs for, content, accuracy, and grammar. • Collaborated with engineers and technicians from other departments (manufacturing and silicone groups) to plan and prepare for projects, ensuring client’s deadlines and specifications are met.
Biomedical Engineer I
• Create anatomical 3D computer models from patient CT scans using Mimics software, with which surgeons virtually plan surgeries. Where applicable, FreeForm software is further applied to manipulate and perfect the virtual model, and Magics software is used to label and create a final 3D model for printing with appropriate materials based on client needs. This process ensures implants and plates are patient specific, and reduces operating time.• Deliver product-specific computer models from Orthognathic, Reconstruction-including trauma and tumors, Temporomandibular Joint, and other anatomical models (hearts, kidneys, etc.,) for patient-specific designs.• Maintain detailed records of each case in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System and adhering to FDA regulatory standards, and HIPAA.• Worked with design team to determine ideal materials to best satisfy client requirements. Examples of interesting projects include: o A cancerous kidney model for client to practice tumor removal using a surgical robot, urology model including kidneys, bladder, and prostate for medical students to practice removing kidney stones, and conjoined twins.
