Helen brings over 30 years of extensive experience in hydrogeological research and investigation to the table. Her expertise spans across physical hydrogeology, including resource assessment, recharge processes, shallow groundwater dynamics, groundwater flooding, and catchment characterisation. She is also proficient in utilising GIS techniques to analyse spatial data, adding a valuable dimension to her work.Throughout her career, Helen has focused on the impact of land use on groundwater and surface water quality. This includes studying the effects of land use intensification and activities that degrade water quality. Her clients have ranged from farmers to territorial authorities and regional councils, with recent emphasis on addressing issues related to nitrates, drinking water quality, and contamination from agricultural and industrial sources.Helen's contributions extend beyond research; she has been actively involved in advising regulatory bodies. For instance, she developed source protection zone modelling guidelines with GNS, provided guidance on new source protection zone guidelines for ECan and led multiple source protection zone projects.Helen is recognised as an expert in groundwater quality. She has served as an expert witness in various hearings, offering evidence on the impact of land use on groundwater quality. Helen's work also encompasses assessing shallow groundwater hazards and their implications in both urban and rural settings.
