Baukunst is a collective of creative technologists advancing the art of building at the frontiers of technology and design. Renowned as the “Queen of Procurement for Moonshots,” built the first central procurement function for Google X, including organization design, department mission, outsourcing strategies, and supply partnerships for advanced moonshot projects. Specialized in emerging market research, cross-industry collaborations, and supplier partnerships to facilitate innovative ideas and novel projects ranging from Google Glass (smart eyewear), Loon (balloon-powered internet), Makani (wing turbine energy kites), Wing (aerial-delivery system using self-flying vehicles), Smart Contact Lens, Self-driving Cars, Robotics and many other exploratory concepts.

New Technology (2 yrs) reporting to the VP of Procurement: responsible for sourcing advanced display, camera and sensing technologies and manufacturing. Conducted market research, selected R&D partners, cultivated long-term business relationships. Negotiated strategic investment deals. Special Project (0.5 yr) - Apple's New Spaceship Campus: led sourcing activities for major spend. Negotiated procurement deals for stone, glass, LED and wood veneer.Display Technology (2 yrs): established sourcing strategies for multi-billion $ annual spend. Led supply chain to develop and commercialize the Retina Display and Unibody design. Created should cost methodology for new product concepts. Led global teams to ensure new product launch, supply continuity, and product life cycle management. Developed and implemented effective strategy to manage dynamic supply challenges from low volume/high mix of MacBook Pro (11”, 13”, 15” 17”) and MacBook Air (11”, 13”), to high volume/low mix iPad (9.7”) and iPad Mini (7.9”).Inter-connect Commodities (2 yrs): advanced technology roadmap and created global capacity for mobile platform to launch the first few generations of iPod and iPhone. Led sourcing strategies, cost management, technical operation, quality and commodity planning over $1 billion annual spend for FPCs, micro connectors and many other commodities.iPod Projects (1.3 yrs): managed key modules and components including the first multi-touch click wheel for iPod Nano and the first ASIC for small size LCD panels. Created innovative business conferences to optimize product costs and supply continuity. Material Program Manager (1 yr): developed dynamic E&O model to guide forecast planning and minimize financial impact. Responsible for material management that had critical impact on revenue. Focused on material planning (Clear to Build), life cycle management, new product readiness, inventory control, material allocation from sub-suppliers to contract manufacturers.

Head of Strategic Sourcing and Global Procurement: responsible for corporate purchasing strategies, commodity planning, and supplier performance management. Led global operation teams for material planning, inventory management, forecasting, VMI, and logistic arrangements for tier one customers (e.g. Apple, Gateway, HP). Negotiated key terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure supply chain flexibility and supply continuity, cost competitiveness, on-time delivery, and warranty coverage, etc. Led the high-profile manufacturing transition from Apple Sacramento to Foxconn Fullerton.
