About Helena Andersson

I am very fond of structure. And technical solutions. My interest in developing new services can be traced back to my days at University. I received a prize for a mobile application in an invention competition (before there were apps) and during my degree work I developed a communication service for WAP (does anyone remember that technology anymore?)I truly enjoy working as a project manager. Looking forward, I would either like to excel in my current field or plunge into a certain part of the process, like requirements or test. I value collages who enjoy and care about their work and each other. I value managers who trust their employees and give them difficult tasks.I really enjoy my current position at the City of Stockholm. I get trust, freedom, and challenges to thrive. The projects are inspiring and I´m counting my colleagues as some of my best friends. I sometimes miss working in a more international environment, as I have done previously. Have been involved in developing a successful international SaaS company specialized in media intelligence and, in another company, coordinated translations of editorial content for websites across Europe. Attended university in both England and the US.Some day, I would like to work abroad so my own children get to live in another culture. But right now, I get the best of two worlds living in both Hälsingland and Stockholm.

  • Stockholms Stad
    It Project Manager
Stockholms Stad Aug 2009 - Present
    Stockholm, Sweden
Responsible for projects, mostly within web development. Budget, requirements specifications, schedules, procurement of consultants, and tests on the client-side. My role usually varies between product manager and/or product owner and I work hard to honor the principles of scrum. The project I'm working on right now, "Kulan", is a website where teachers can find hundreds of local art and culture events. It´s also a platform for co-funding culture events, the City of Stockholm afforded 19 million Swedish crowns through the platform in 2020.I have also worked with Stockholmskällan - a website that tells the history of Stockholm. The site has won the Swedish Design Prize and the Swedish Society for Museum Education declared the project "Welcome to my Place", by Stockholmskällan and Wikimedia, as "Best educational project of the year". The European Museum Academy also awarded Stockholmskällan first prize, in the prestigious multimedia competition "Heritage in Motion".
  • Universum
    Content Manager
    Universum Dec 2007 - Jul 2009
    Stockholm, Sweden
As a part of the online team, I was responsible for rebuilding the Campus website (a career site for students, today a part of shortcut.se). I was also in charge of the process of translating content when we launched the site in different markets in Europe. When articles were to rerun in the newspaper Metro, I organized the publishing plan.
  • Meltwater
    Technical Support Manager
    Meltwater Nov 2005 - Nov 2007
    Stockholm, Sweden
As the company rapidly expanded, I recognized the need for more organized technical support. Therefore I got to be in charge of this function for the three offices in the Swedish market. Assisted both customers and sales staff. I also had regular meetings with the developers in Norway to make sure I was up to date with the software as well as addressing the needs I had identified in the sales staffs everyday work. Over time I also developed the support role internationally and regularly met with the other "tech guys". By the time I left Meltwater, there were over 30 offices worldwide and I'm so grateful to have been a small, small part of this movement.
  • Meltwater
Team Manager And Key Account Manager
    Meltwater Jul 2004 - Oct 2005
    Stockholm, Sweden
This is, I think, the most challenging position I've ever had. I worked very hard to make sure everybody in my team met the monthly sales targets. We had to figure out whom we should pitch the service to, and that meant you should have at least 10-15 new companies to contact every single day. 10-15 organizations that nobody in the company had already registered in the client database...The people who couldn't handle the stress or pressure left quite soon. It didn't fit everyone. But the ones who stayed got friends for life. I learned a great deal about sales, closing techniques, customer relations, and portfolio management.
  • Meltwater
    Management Trainee
    Meltwater Apr 2004 - Jun 2004
    Oslo Area, Norway
Meltwater News is a Norwegian SaaS company specialized in media intelligence. Among hundreds of applicants, I was one of three chosen to set up the Stockholm office. This was Meltwaters' first international office. To get to know the company inside out I and the other two trainees moved to Oslo for an intense training period. We learned how to do B2B sales in the news industry as well as company values and culture. We had sales targets (personal and team) from the first month and were responsible for the entire sales process, from prospecting and product demonstrations to closing the deal and bringing clients on board.During this period we also searched for an office in Stockholm and recruited six key account managers for the new office.
