As a Patient Liaison Officer my position requires me to work with complex patient medical cases and accounts where the bills can run into the large amounts. A key liability of the role is to analyse patient accounts in which the accounts must be cross reference against other finance aspects and various factors to ensure accounts are kept within SLA targets. When demonstrating this to individuals such as patients or seniors/managers there is always a high expectancy to be accurate and clear, while being able to present the information in a logical fashion. I am an individual that thinks out of the box which is required to make fast decisions which I believe is required in this role and also in my current role. For example, we have patient referrals which are very time limited from the point of booking and the patient arrival. It is my responsibility to analyse all the information available to us and gather the information not given to attain approval place from insurance providers, sponsors or embassies whilst meeting out KPI targets. Moreover I currently utilise Meditech system, Excel, Mosaiq, Health code, Bupa EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), amongst other tools to gather information, make decisions, compare and contrast, analyse the information and create solutions to remain competitive players. Within my field there is a constant need to foresee certain problems and address them before they can develop into high risk issues. It is key is to able to identify errors as large errors tend to stem from smaller ones, hence my strong belief in reducing risks at the first site is not only essential but vital in resolving problems. For instance in my current position, I am required to formulate an estimate cost for a patients and also use this skills to resolve many different queries.
