TutorExcel@Uni May 2021 - PresentIn this role I have been able to further develop my communication and time management skills. Additionally, it has highlighted the importance of active listening, patience, and emotional intelligence. I have also had the pleasure of working with students from different background with different learning styles. With each student being so unique this has highlighted the importance of flexibility in a role and needing to adjust according to the student’s needs. Overall, I believe to some students I have been more than just a tutor. I have been a sounding board for ideas, a ear to listen to as they vent and at times even an advisor and motivator. -

Commerce Orientation LeaderUniversity Of Cape Town Jan 2022 - Feb 2022As an orientation leader (OL) I had the opportunity to work in a team with amazing leaders. All of whom were equally passionate, enthusiastic and willing to go above and beyond to help. Our role was to ensure that first year students were registered, knew how to use and access the UCT systems and platforms (i.e. Vula, peoplesoft, UCT emails, etc). Additionally, we were tasked with advising first year students and sharing our experiences in hopes that they would learn from us. This was a great opportunity to reflect on my own journey thus far and an opportunity to learn from my peers. This role helped also me to further cultivate my public speaking and interpersonal skills. -
General Front Assistant (Cashier)Rink Street Spar Dec 2020 - Feb 2021Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, South AfricaThis was a job I took on during my 2020 December vacation period, after not getting any "accounting-related" vacation work. In this position, my primary role was to ensure efficient assistance of customers in the in-store check-out process. This included and was not limited to; processing the sale and return transactions, bagging items, requesting price checks, ensuring that the appropriate change was given, resolving customer issues, and answering questions, and all while ensuring a positive customer experience. I also came to understand the importance of the customer's experience with a business and its brand. This job also highlighted that every opportunity can be one to network and ask questions. I say this because I also got the opportunity to interact with individuals in various fields, from real estate to accounting. Many of whom were more than willing to answer my questions as they were checking out their items.

Clarinus Village Deputy Head StudentUniversity Of Cape Town Oct 2019 - Nov 2020In 2019 I was elected as the Deputy Head Student of Clarinus Village. One of the key tasks in my position was organising the orientation week events on behalf of my residence. Organisation and communication skills were vital throughout the planning process and to ensure proper execution of the plans. Another one of my duties entailed assisting the Head Student and other House Committee members where necessary. The role also required liaison with other residence leadership structures to ensure the residence space was conducive for learning and still felt like home. And I believe I did this to the best of my abilities. -

Head GirlVictoria Park High School Oct 2017 - Oct 2018I was honored with the opportunity of being one of the student leaders of my school. It was not easy to balance academics, other leadership positions and activities. However, I put my best foot forward for every role. In this position I was tasked with the role to represent my school. This representation was through general conduct and at key events. I played a role in leading the prefect body of the school and working to bridge the gap between the student body and school educators. This was done through constant liaison with senior and general staff members.
