I have been a patient advocate for many childhood cancer charities and children's organizations such as SickKids Foundation, Childhood Cancer Canada, and Campfire Circle (formerly Camp Oochigeas). My most notable work in patient advocacy is my role of Co-founder in my grassroots advocacy organization, which worked with childhood cancer patients, survivors, families, nationally-leading paediatric oncologists, policy makers, and the federal goverment. Together, we gained more funding for childhood cancer research, made systems and policy change to allow kids to access potentially life-saving clinical trials and treatments, as well as creating space for patients and their circle of care at national research priority-setting tables for their voices to be heard.Currently, I am using my skills in patient advocacy and communications to give a patient perspective in retinoblastoma research at the Peter Gilgan Research Institute.In the future, I plan to use the skills I've built and the systems I've become familiar with in advocacy and working with top scientists and the Federal Government, to work in Climate and Environmental sciences.
