As a Project Coordinator I at ANTHC, I focused on the housing assessment project as well as a national survey aimed at assessing water infrastructure in the state of Alaska. I led a small team for the housing assessment project and focused on designing a process that was sustainable. As an interim coordinator for the EPA’s Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey and Assessment (DWINSA), I worked with the same team to develop a system to collect and store the relevant data, as well as researched water system data internally.

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is a non-profit Tribal health organization that offers a variety of health services to Alaska Native and American Indian people that live in Alaska. ANTHC’s vision is to “[Provide] the highest quality health services in partnership with our people and the Alaska Tribal Health System.” Within ANTHC, I worked in the Project Management department in the Division of Environmental Health and Engineering (DEHE). As an AmeriCorps VISTA, I developed and implemented a process to collect, store, and analyze housing and sanitation information necessary to apply for federal funding. In this project, I worked directly with communities in rural Alaska via phone calls, email, and site visits to collect and finalize the relevant data. I used tools to format and design community maps and store the subsequent information, such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Access. Throughout this process I collaborated with entities within and outside of ANTHC, including regional Tribal health organizations, the State of Alaska, and the Indian Health Service. In 2018, I presented this project at the Alaska Environmental Health Association (AEHA) Conference along with other AmeriCorps VISTA’s and their respective projects.

As an academic coach, I aided students in developing personalized time management strategies, study and note taking skills, and study plans. In addition, I designed student resources related to reading strategies, time management, and study skills.

In this position I worked individually with students from a variety of academic and cultural backgrounds on grammatical, organization, formatting, and citation skills.
