WMS Firearms Training is the leading commercial provider of firearms training and instruction in the UK with a client base of private clients and professional firearms users from around the world. WMS operates from its HQ and range areas in mid Wales as well as from the National Shooting Centre at Bisley, Surrey. As Commercial Director my role includes strategic business development, overseeing special projects, creation and management of bespoke and corporate days, financial planning and budgeting, client liaison, training programme development, management and development of WMS instructors, creation company policies, insurances, management of social media and company website, and marketing and PR.

As Director and Trustee I work alongside Strata Florida Trust's Chair, Secretary, Board of Trustees, and paid staff, who oversee the development of the Strata Florida Trust site comprising old farm buildings next to Strata Florida Abbey in Ceredigion, Mid-Wales. The Trust, a charitable company, is in the process of conserving and developing these buildings into the Strata Florida Centre for Welsh heritage, culture and language.

As a freelance copywriter, editor and journalist with more than 20 years of experience I deliver clear, factually accurate, intelligent writing on time, every time. I learned and refined my editorial, writing and research skills at The Economist Newspaper in London, where I worked for 15 years in a variety of editorial roles and latterly as Deputy Literary Editor. This position involved writing numerous book reviews for the paper, copy editing, headline and caption writing, proofreading, and honing a precise eye for grammar, spelling, writing style and tone of voice. Instrumental in putting together four pages of book reviews and arts coverage each week, working alongside The Economist Newspaper's Literary Editor, the Research Department, Graphics Department and Picture Desk. Role included writing book reviews; commissioning and editing freelance book reviews, and arts and culture feature articles; research; commissioning illustrations; editing and proof-reading; forward article and feature planning, budget control and departmental management. Managed ongoing liaison with publishing houses around the world and our network of freelance and in-house contributors. Additionally provided regular writing and editing cover for senior Economist editors and The Economist website.

Provided editorial, journalistic and research work for the United States Editor and Britain Editor. Role included writing, editing, proof-reading; research of ongoing breaking news stories, in depth research on global political and economic issues, writing and editing The World This Week and Politics This Week pages; liaising with overseas bureau chiefs, journalists and stringers; working in conjunction with the graphics department and picture desk; providing cover for the Letters Editor.

Deputy Editor of Economist Specialist telecoms magazine Public Network Europe. Researched and wrote monthly telecoms features and news stories on deregulation of state telecommunications businesses, the rise of private telecoms operators, competition, regulation, technical developments and industry mergers and acquisitions. Commissioned and edited articles from freelance journalists. Researched, wrote and edited articles for annual global telecoms industry and country yearbooks. Role involved regular overseas travel in Europe, Asia and the United States to interview senior executives in the telecoms business and government.
