I am lucky enough to have a role I feel very passionate about, training the next generation of publishing people as they enter the industry or upskill, through the Level 4 Publishing Professional apprenticeship. I am coach, teacher, mentor and content creator, and have worked now with over 100 apprentices from a hugely diverse range of backgrounds in all sectors of the industry and in all types of roles as they start or build their early careers.I spent 30 years in textbook publishing, starting in Sales and moving into Editorial where I was for some years Editorial Director of a fabulous team. Over time I recruited, trained and nurtured many editors and assistants who have grown into established names in their fields, and in parallel developed the strategy, the processes and my own management skills to steer that team.Career highlights in my publishing career include developing and publishing for over 25 years the bestselling Mastering Arabic series, and for over 20 years the Foundations Languages series, as well as seven editions of the market-leading Stroud & Booth: Engineering Mathematics titles. I also enjoyed playing a key role in a cross-functional senior management team developing company-wide strategy.
