I’m the proud founder of The Helen Brown Group LLC, a full-service fundraising research consulting firm based near Boston, Massachusetts. In 2021 I founded DAFinitive®, a tool to help nonprofits find information about donor advised funds.An involved leader and volunteer in the prospect research community, I'm a former board member of Apra (formerly the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement), and have served as an Apra volunteer as committee chair, task force member, and speaker for more than a decade. In 2017, I was honored to receive the Apra Distinguished Service Award.Regionally, I was past president of NEDRA (the New England Development Research Association) and in 2006, I was proud to receive the NEDRA Ann Castle Award for service to the prospect research community.Internationally I have served as a non-executive director for Factary Ltd, in Bristol, England and as Advisor on Fundraising to the North American Foundation for the University of Manchester. I'm a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (RSA) and a frequent participant in Researchers in Fundraising conferences in London.In 2013, I co-authored "Prospect Research for Fundraisers; the essential handbook" published by Wiley & Sons for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Development Series.
