Intern
This experienced focused heavily upon low ropes, cooperative challenges, and high ropes courses. We primarily worked with short term groups such as class field trips or college classes.
Team-Building And Leadership Games Specialist
During my time here, I led the activity "Team-building and Leadership Games." Since this was a new program that summer, I created the curriculum from scratch. This curriculum focused on developing the campers personal confidence and cooperation through team and individual games.
Archery Specialist
I taught beginner, intermediate, and advanced archery lessons to children ages 4 to 16. This age group also included children with emotional and physical disabilities. I was responsible for program development for each age group, skill level, and theme week. In addition to child management and program development tasks, I was responsible for maintaining and repairing or replacing the equipment as needed.
Head Residential Counselor
As "unit leader" I was part of a small team responsible for managing a staff of 20+ international residential counselors. This ranged from emotional responsibilities such as homesickness to management responsibilities such as scheduling and becoming a crisis leader. I was also responsible for "night checks" upon rotation. In addition to managing staff, I was responsible for traditional residential counselor duties. I worked with girls ages 6 to 16 in small groups. Throughout the week I led them in different activities such as Archery, Canoeing, and Arts and Crafts. Overall, it was a great summer that allowed me to hone my skills as a counselor and a leader.
Riding Instructor
I was responsible for the well being of the horses as well as the safety and entertainment of the campers. We lead the girls, age 6 to 16, in beginner, intermediate, and advanced riding lessons. These lessons consisted of "hands on" riding time, a tacking lesson, a grooming lesson, a classroom style lesson on breeds and riding styles, as well as the occasional special lesson. These special lessons consisted of jumping, lunging, or show demonstrations.
