At Boots the Chemist I was required to be part of both a sales team and of a shop operations team. Working in the sales team has greatly developed my communication skills and I have learned the value in making customers feel relaxed and comfortable, especially at peak periods in the shop. When performing operations I was required to maintain good levels of stock through daily store procedures where I have to be both quick and accurate. Additionally through working at Boots I have been able to build the necessary expertise to be able to advise customers thoroughly on many different products including: pharmaceuticals; photography; sun shop; fashion and beauty. I feel I have developed skills in assisting a wide range of people from different background, especially foreign travellers where speaking appropriately is necessary to understand the needs of the customer. My skills with the general public, as well as with vendors, deliverers and visiting officials have been sharpened by working with Boots. I am aware of when customers require assistance and when the do not. I am able to provide friendly and discreet advice and I am a very approachable individual. My skills with the general public, as well as with vendors, deliverers and visiting officials have been sharpened by working with Boots I have been required to be trustworthy and reliable in running the shop and I have been involved in key administrative tasks in the office including handling cash. Student Assistant

St. Ambrose High School

I undertook voluntary work experience in the History and Modern Studies department working with children aged between 12 and 16 under the instruction of several teachers. During this time I learned how to deal with the discipline of school children and participated in teaching a first year lesson on the political system of the United Kingdom. I achieved the skills of knowing how to relate to the children at their level and how to manage a classroom. I feel that I am able to communicate with young people well due to this work experience and I have become an excellent public speaker.
