If you want a fancy term … then I’m a knowledge producer (think like a music producer for talented experts). What brings me to life is structuring and packaging knowledge to share, so others can use it to make a positive difference in their lives and the world around us. I have cross disciplinary talents that make this real, as well as substantial experience and a rich collection of outputs. Utility is important. If nobody has a need of it or is not going to use it - then I’m not motivated to take action. If the utility has underlying motivations of preserving privilege and capitalism, then my talents are not for sale. There are many ways to structure and package knowledge, it depends on the audience/user. And I design or advise and advocate for them. Some packaging is conceptual - like a framework, curriculum or model. Some is an experience - like a team workshop, a learning activity or a classroom session. Things get really interesting when it’s a holistic mix of all these things. To keep my insights fresh and my practitioner skills sharp, I occasionally facilitate group learning sessions. And I am always creating and curating knowledge to share on the theme/philosophy of Being Self unLimited (www.be-selfunlimited.com).When not working, I indulge in a bit of gardening; record the family history (including a whakapapa of my Māori heritage that goes back 21 generations); dabble with the Japanese craft of paper folding (aka origami); assist a greyhound named Roo to transition to being a pet; lose myself in the cultural 'scapes in sci-fiction; and have been known to compose a poem or three - just like three generations of ancestors.
