I’ve been an occupational therapist for 33 years and have practiced in 3 countries and 5 states. I have combined experience in both adult and pediatric populations; my pediatric experience is mostly in the public school setting. In 2004 I earned a Master's Degree in Education Administration and Policy Studies with a major in special education law. I am passionate about teaching and mentoring therapists and frequently serve as a clinical fieldwork educator. I've lectured in many universities across the United States and in Australia on a broad range of topics as they relate to the occupational therapy field of practice. I have been honored to work in many departments where I was recruited for my speciality in developing programs, onboarding new staff and establishing policy and procedure for occupational therapy departments in a variety of settings. In 2017 I was honored to be recognized by the American Occupational Therapists’ Association's Centennial Vision as one of 100 Occupational Therapists, out of more than ten thousand practicing therapists, whose careers were recorded in the U.S. Library of Congress in Washington DC. The 100 Occupational Therapists were selected for having a remarkable and diverse career and for positively impacting thousands of lives, both in the patient/client realm and in mentoring other professionals.I’m originally from Australia and am a dual citizen.
