I am a person who loves to help and support others and who is adept at planning and arranging activities. Whether I am in "client-facing" or "administrative"modes, I love to do these two things at the same time: to find ways to help others and to co-ordinate and collaborate for maximum impact, My role as Manager of Career Services for MBA Programs at Smith School of Business allowed me to do just that. As a manager, my focus was on building relationships; the notion of collaboration was key, and for me that meant taking the best that my team had to offer and giving individuals the opportunity to grow, learn, and challenge themselves to deliver excellence. I took this perspective into all of the relationships that I developed throughout the School of Business. My coaching philosophy was naturally centred on building relationships with students. My goal was to ensure that every students found work that, simply put, made them happy. This is both very simple, and very complex, but fundamentally is at the core of achieving career success. My entire career has been focused on some element of career; I have had the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life, and it has been the passion and privilege of my life to do so. Manager, Career Services, Mba ProgramsSmith School Of Business At Queen'S University Dec 2016 - Jul 2017Kingston, OnI am passionate about coaching and as the Manager of Career Services for MBA Programs, I had the opportunity to focus on the challenges of career transition for Smith Graduate students. I worked collaboratively with Smith Career Managers, coaches, Experts in Residence and our Corporate Relations team. While my role was fundamentally that of a coach, I was very engaged with career program planning and coordination, which translated into my having the opportunity to collaborate with many people within Smith and the business community. The project management component of the many events that we planned for MBA students made my work at Smith engaging and challenging. My goal was to assist students in maximizing the benefit of acquiring a Smith MBA and ultimately obtain employment that was congruent with their goals and aspirations. -

While the delivery of coaching and workshops did change across these student groups, our goal was to assist our students with all elements of career transition so that they were able to maximize the impact of their new business degrees and leverage the Smith brand to reach their goals. My role also included project management, as many of the events we planned for students necessitated that I collaborate with other programs in the school, work with service and training providers, and manage events. Senior Counsellor, Opportunities Fund, Ottawa ValleyKeys 2004 - 2010Senior Counsellor- Opportunities Fund, Ottawa ValleyThis role offered me the wonderful opportunity to work with community agencies, employment offices, and government staff in the delivery of employment supports to persons with disabilities throughout the Ottawa Valley. I assisted clients in developing employment goals, and establishing realistic plans to achieve those goals. For many of my clients, this meant breaking down the small steps needed to move toward the long-term goal of employment; I sometimes attended job interviews with clients, advocating for them, marketing their skills and negotiating with employers on their behalf. When training was required, I assisted clients in preparing applications for training funding through the Opportunities Fund (Service Canada) This role deepened my understanding of the complexities of job readiness, and the many pieces that have to come together to make job acquisition and maintenance possible. -
