My project focuses on guiding surgeons in the operating room when cancerous margins are unclear. I conducted a thorough analysis of nanoparticle characteristics, including size, concentration, zeta potential, conjugation potential, optical profile, fluorescence, and Raman spectra. The optimized size of liposomal nanoparticles significantly enhanced tumor uptake. Additionally, I played a key role in establishing a comprehensive database encompassing properties of 22 novel contrast agents across different imaging modalities, and I wrote a MATLAB script to effectively analyze and organize a large dataset of fluorescence data. Furthermore, I have cultured multiple tumor cell lines and conducted a small animal experiment to observe the enhanced permeability and retention effects of fluorescent nanoparticles, showcasing the practical implications of my work in the field. Through novel methods, I developed silica and liposomal dye-doped nanoparticles with thiol conjugation.

In my role as an intern, I helped debug MATLAB code for the detection of ciliary beating across various image file types, showcasing proficiency in leveraging programming skills to enhance analytical processes. Additionally, I demonstrated hands-on expertise in culturing and maintaining organ-on-chip platforms, to actively contribute to developing realistic in vitro models with applications in biotech. I created the experimental plan to gather foundational data that highlighted interactions between large molecules and PDMS within a lung-on-chip system. This internship experience has not only honed my technical abilities but also allowed me to contribute meaningfully to cutting-edge research in the field.
