Reshaped high-complexity infrastructure, including both MuleSoft’s internal dev, build, and, production, environments as well as infrastructure provisioned for customers.• Architected, planned, and built a fully-featured internal PaaS based on Kubernetes to accelerate delivery of products • Brought in Kubernetes to enable on-premise MuleSoft offering. Later, expanded use of Kubernetes to automate customer deployments in AWS and allow “Bring your own Kubernetes”.• Expanded MuleSoft infrastructure to enable dedicated instances for US, EU, and then AWS GovCloud• Created architectural working models, standards and review process. • Actively involved and hands-on in writing infrastructure tools and services for internal teams.

Deis is an open-source PaaS that adds a developer-friendly layer to any Kubernetes cluster, making it easy to deploy and manage applications in Heroku-inspired and Docker workflows, providing observability, routing, and more. With the acquisition of Deis into Microsoft Azure, the product and team were integrated into Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) to augment and improve the product offerings for customers and enterprises.Brought large-scale, enterprise PaaS experience to Deis, helping move Deis from v1 (CoreOS container orchestration) to v2 (Kubernetes), requiring a major re-architecture and rebuild which expanded capabilities in CI/CD, microservices composition, and improved ease of use.

Orchestra was acquired to expand Engine Yard capabilities (easy deployment to AWS, turnkey automation, and monitoring solution) to serve PHP developers. Led development of Orchestra, developing the roadmap to include new features to serve a growing, large-scale customer base. Rapidly added new IaaS providers (including Microsoft Azure), new language runtimes, growing the engineering team, hiring and managing teams across multiple geographies. Relocated to San Francisco to work on “Next Gen” Engine Yard Platform, rearchitecting platform services to serve more runtime languages, data storage offerings, and IaaS providers, with improved automation, delivery, and continuous testing. Expanded role to takeover backend, language, runtime, data operations, and operating systems teams.

Created a PHP development platform (PaaS) on top of early-day AWS primitives. Used by engineers to deploy, scale, and monitor their applications simply and intuitively. As head of engineering, lead product strategy, roadmaps, and end-to-end product development; including:• Platform Development: Automation of PHP, AWS, operating system, web servers, load balancers, configuration management, security, logging & metric systems, and other details abstracted away for developer ease of use. • Developer Experience: Created APIs, web interface, and other tooling for developers to customize the deployment, manage, and monitor AWS infrastructure. Lead a small team from concept to launch in three months. The platform was quickly adopted by developers (over 5,000 users in the first few weeks after launch) and acquired by Engine Yard within nine months.
