PhD student in the Extremes Research group, School of Sport, Health & Exercise Sciences. My PhD explored the effects of exercise and environmental stress on novel markers of mucosal immunity and investigated their potential to track and predict infection, in both a laboratory and field setting.During this period I supervised several BSc and MSc project students, undertook project management of four research studies, successfully applied for a small research grant and delivered the project in a timely fashion and to a high standard, recruited and tested over one hundred human volunteer participants.
Elected sabbatical officer responsible for representing the student voice in all matters relating to Oxford Sport. In my year-long term of office, I oversaw the smooth running of 85 student-led sports clubs. I was responsible for the allocation of a £100,000 budget to the student-led clubs in the form of Annual and Supplementary grants, and led the decision panel for the allocation of sporting scholarships. My role demanded many other skills and tasks, including financial administration, fundraising, events planning and negotiation of sponsorship deals. Major projects included acting as Editor for the 52-page Annual Review of Oxford Sport, co-ordinating Oxford's hosting of the biannual Varsity Games and organising the Annual Oxford University Sports Awards evening. I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to host the Olympic Torch at the Iffley Road Sports Complex during the London 2012 Torch Relay. My role required me to sit on the Oxford University Sport Strategy Committee & OU Blues Committees, but I also took up a role on the Atalanta's Society Committee with an aim of improving provision for Women's Sport in Oxford.
