As the Department Chair, for the Center for Teaching and Learning at Phoenix College Helice Agria develops creative and innovate learning experiences for professional development opportunities focused on teaching excellence and the integration of technology to support 21st Century education. For the past 16-years, Helice has worked in higher education in a variety of roles in both student and academic affairs including direct instruction as an Adjunct Faculty Member and Technology Training. This wide foundational knowledge provides Helice with holistic understanding of the college environment and the needs of its diverse workforce and student body. In her role for the CTL Helice provides professional development for both faculty and staff in the areas of educational and workplace technology. She is also a Canvas Administrator for the college and LMS Core Committee Chair for the district. Helice's approach to professional development focuses on the intersection between pedagogy and technology. Her creative and engaging one-on-one and group sessions help users get comfortable with technology and she provides a method for vetting and aligning tools carefully with user abilities, lesson objectives and larger student outcomes. In addition to her classroom and technology training experience, Helice supports a variety of campus-wide projects such as training for the Higher Learning Commission, the eLearning Gold Star Program, Apps based on Blooms as well as Quality Matters.
