In support of this, I initiated the effort to automate testing, introducing Postman-based API tests, Selenium-based functional tests, and JMeter-based load tests. I was also actively involved in hiring software engineers, consultants, QA, and engineering leadership. Outside of DevOps I worked closely with the product team, helping set priorities and adjust scope in order to meet critical deadlines. I worked extensively on process and communications improvements across the organization, including the development of a roadmap to align the entire organization's efforts. In addition to developing and deepening many of my skills, while supporting Chinsay I also learned a lot about the technologies and tools the team uses especially Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps. -
Senior Software Engineer And Project ManagerElectronic Book Technologies May 1992 - Nov 1996EBT developed DynaText (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynatext), a tool for turning SGML texts into interactive electronic books. As an engineer, I was responsible for the API product, the System Integrators Toolkit, which was used by customers such as Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics, Novell, and Boeing for delivering product documentation electronically. I also led the group responsible for the top-level DynaText application itself, and was one of the technical leads responsible for transitioning DynaText from a single-threaded to a multi-threaded application with pluggable COM-based back ends, using a C++-to-COM code generation framework developed in Perl. At EBT, I also acted as a Project Manager for several releases, where I leveraged Mosaic and the nacent WWW to create web gateways to EBT's DDTS bug tracking system. I instituted the Conductor role, a rotating cross-functional position responsible for coordinating software release activities across the Engineering, Documentation, QA, and Support teams. I developed the Conductor's Web Page to coordinate all the teams and to support briefing external customers weekly on the current status of their open issues. Previously as a summer intern, I implemented a regression testing system for automating unit tests and documented the System Integrators Toolkit. I also spearheaded the engineering team's transition from RCS to CVS. -
