🌱 Passionate Microbiologist & Agricultural Innovator Growing up on the small-scale farms of central Saskatchewan, Canada, I inherited a deep-rooted passion for agriculture. Today, as an educated microbiologist, I've dedicated my career to harnessing the power of microbes to transform the way we treat our crops, soils, and water resources. I bring my creativity and passion to work everyday to walk the line between what is known, what’s possible, and what is feasible.🌾 Research Expertise: I specialize in the strategic utilization of microorganisms to combat plant diseases and enhance plant resilience and have a special interest in fungus and lesser-known microorganisms. I believe that the relationship between the microbes and their environment is highly specific and that the way we discover, design, test, interpret, advise, and use these solutions requires progressive methods and novel ways of thinking. My interest in new technologies such as AI and data science, coupled with adept project management, highlights my leadership style; progressive, supportive, and dedicated to people and projects within agricultural innovation.🔬 Educational Background:PhD in environmental microbiology, with a focus on soil microbes unlocking organic phosphorus (biofertilizers) from the the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Post-doctoral post at the Technical University of Denmark, working on identifying fungal strains with novel secondary metabolites for biocontrol purposes. 🌎 International Experience:Studied and conducted research in diverse environments across the globe: Canada, Brazil, Germany, Denmark, and Austria. This exposure has equipped me with a diverse toolbox, adaptability, and an understanding of culture and perspective.🚀 Let's Connect & Innovate! My goal is to pave the way for a shift from chemicals to successful biological treatments in agriculture, reducing reliance on synthetic pesticides and promoting sustainable farming practices. I believe in developing solutions that make sense - for all stakeholders; farmers, producers, governments, consumers, and the environment.📧 Connect with me:Passionate about sustainable agriculture, I'm open to discussions, collaborations, and networking opportunities. If you share a passion for innovative agricultural and ag-biotech solutions, feel free to reach out for discussions on biologicals, sustainable agriculture, or any exciting projects on the horizon. Let's create a healthier, more sustainable future for our farms and our planet!

Research EngineerAit Austrian Institute Of Technology Gmbh Aug 2023 - Aug 2024Tulln An Der Donau, Lower Austria, AustriaWorking to translate plant biologicals research into agricultural solutions. Specifically, I am working within the microbial product testing and design space, and developing B2B business initiatives for successful strains. We work with all biological applications within agriculture, and specialize in live microbes. -
Scientific StaffDtu Bioengineering Aug 2021 - Sep 2023Kongens Lyngby, Capital Region, DenmarkWorking to build a proof-of-concept platform for a university spin off company in the sustainability/agriculture sphere.Smarter AgroBiological Screening (SABS) aims to improve technologies for finding biofungicides; natural microorganisms that can protect plants from fungal diseases. Specifically, it aims to find biological solutions for fusarium head blight (F. graminearum) and septoria leaf blotch (Z. tritici) in wheat.SABS will develop a new platform for screening large collections of microorganisms using automation and artificial intelligence. We currently work with DTU’s IBT strain collection of over 40,000 diverse microorganisms. These microorganisms and their natural chemistries will become tomorrows products, replacing the chemicals we currently rely on. -
Laboratory Manager And Biofertilizer QcNordic Harvest Nov 2020 - Jul 2021Høj TåstrupHelping Nordic Harvest set-up and maintain a laboratory where we produce bio-fertilizer, provide in-house end-product testing, and perform basic research activities within plant-health microbiology and water quality. I also work with HACCP, ISO-certification/auditing, risk-assessments, and quality assurance throughout the entire production chain. -
Plant ExpertInfarm Feb 2020 - Jul 2020Tåstrup, Capital Region, DenmarkHelping InFarm keep their produce chemical free by researching, sourcing, and applying various biocontrols. I ensured plant health by optimizing various parameters in hydroponic farming units and made harvest predictions based on real-time data from units around the country. -
FreelanceInfarm Oct 2019 - Feb 2020Copenhagen Area, Capital Region, DenmarkHelping InFarm establish their first farm in Copenhagen and assisting in the rollout in IRMA stores across the country. -
Phd StudentDepartment Of Plant And Environmental Sciences, University Of Copenhagen May 2014 - May 2019Copenhagen, Capital Region, DenmarkWorking with phytase-producing strain isolation from soil for biofertilizer use as part of a team working on sustainable phosphorus use in agricultural soils. We looked at the microbial community attracted to precipitated phytate (a major contributor to organic P pools in soil) and identified key genera with the potential to release stored phosphorus in soils. We developed a method for isolating novel biofertilizer candidates using phyate as a bait substrate, by letting the complex and competitive soil environment do to selection for us. This position involved project planning, lab work, data management and analysis, as well as manuscript writing in a highly independent manner. I also taught the qPCR section of the masters level applied microbiology course, which involved lectures, lab work, assignments, and exam preparation. -
Visiting ResearcherThe James Hutton Institute Feb 2016 - Apr 2016Dundee, United KingdomWorking with Dr. Timothy George and Dr. Courtney Giles to test isolated soil strains for enzymatic activity towards precipitated calcium-phytate substrates. A part of my PhD work, and a very successful learning experience! -
Research AssistantUniversity Of Copenhagen Mar 2014 - May 2014Kopenhagen Und Umgebung, DänemarkContributing to a project using qPCR to monitor bacterial and fungal inoculate strains and their persistence during the composting process. -
Masters StudentLmu - Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Mar 2013 - Sep 2013Munich, GermanyI worked on the interaction of the Vacuolating toxin (VacA) from Helicobactor Pylori and its potential interactions with the eucaryotic cell via methods such as Yeast-two-hybrid, protein pull-downs, and phosphorylation assays. This research was funded by DAAD and carried out at the Max von Pettenkofer institute.
