Launched Modern Optometry in 2019 as the co-chief Medical Editor - a publication for optometrists navigating the evolution of the profession, as medical eye care becomes the future of optometry.

Over the past few years, dry eye disease has become increasingly important to almost every aspect of eye care. We’ve always known that dry eye can be uncomfortable and annoying. However, we now understand that it is a chronic and progressive disease, with a significant impact on vision performance, contact lens success, surgical outcomes, and quality of life. Standard CE courses, while important and necessary, rarely provide a call to action for doctors sitting on the sidelines, or for those that need just a little more confidence before embracing dry eye in their practices. Dry Eye Boot Camp was created to fill this void.

Dr. O'Dell joined the team at Wheatlyn Eye Care to expand their dry eye services in 2015. Through her leadership she introduced new state of the art technology to Central Pennsylvania to better treat patients suffering from dry eye disease. The team at Wheatlyn Eye Care, Mechanicsburg Eye Associates and Carlisle Eye Care share her vision of treating dry eye early as it is chronic and progressive. We continue to introduce new technology, conduct research and lecture other providers to continue to expand our knowledge as it relates to dry eye disease diagnosis and management.

This Hospital-Based Primary Care Optometric Residency gives the optometric resident additional training in the detection and etiology of ocular disease and provides the resident an opportunity to work and interact with a variety of multi-disciplinary health delivery services within a hospital system to prepare the resident for careers in clinical teaching. The resident is exposed to a variety of ocular and systemic pathology and state of the art diagnostic equipment.
