The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a widely used sensor to determine the pose (position and orientation); however in GPS denied environments other types of sensors need to be investigated. This is because in urban settings, GPS is susceptible to multipath reflections and intentional jamming. Monocular camera systems have received increased attention as navigation sensors as an alternative or collaborative sensor to GPS. A camera can act as a navigation sensor because of its ability to detect and track features.
