As histological consultant I prepared all tissue samples (decalcification, embedding, sectioning), prepared staining reagents (Safranin-O, Fast Green, Toluidine Blue, Masson Trichrome and Hematoxylin & Eosin), completed staining procedures, mounted and cover slipped final samples. I produced digital hi-resolution photography of completed histological samples.Working with the company veterinarian I implemented appropriate techniques to administer local anesthesia in preparation for surgery and injections of study compounds.I executed SOP revisions and literature reviews for future lab research; authored several SOP’s including one on behavioural analysis in post-surgery male Sprague-Dawley rats. Upon completion of fieldwork, I completed statistical analysis of results, and edited and highlighted important findings prior to client usage.

I conducted research to test a hypothesis developed under the supervision of a professor in the psychology department. I developed the research question and plan, conducted research reviews, executed the study and analyzed the results. The results of my work were incorporated into a larger study and published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology.

I was engaged in clerical duties and provided administrative support; scheduled and coordinated patient appointments with nurses and social workers. As a receptionist for the Transplant Clinic, I am experienced in using EPR (Electronic Patient Record), PHS (Pathways Healthcare Scheduling) and OTTR (Organ Transplant Tracking Record) to access client files. I also acted as a key communications liaison between patients and their medical team; taught patients how to use EZCall, a physician’s software that acts as an internal telecommunications system for patients to relay messages. It was essential to uphold confidentiality policies with all patients.
