About Mindy Henderson

As editor-in-chief of Quest Media adaptive lifestyle platform for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, my team and I work each day to put critical tools, information and resources into the hands of the community of individuals living with disabilities to help them live life to the fullest. Also an experienced speaker, published author, and disability advocate, I am on a personal mission to leave the world a little better than how I found it...a place where inclusion and equity of experiences is the norm, where people see possibilities instead of limitations, and where no challenge is too big to overcome. After a 20-year career in high-tech, I shifted my focus toward helping others realize their potential and normalizing disability. Driven to build a world that welcomes and includes EVERYONE, I advocate for accessible air travel, universal design in architecture, equitable employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and positive representation of individuals with disabilities in entertainment and the media. My book "The Truth About Things That Suck," examines finding a healthy mindset when going through challenges and hard times. Using stories from my own life and of other incredible women I have known, I talk about things like illness/disability, job loss, body image, loneliness, shame, rejection… and so much more (with a little humor woven throughout). I share the lessons I've learned and the lens I now look at these challenges through. We all struggle, but we can make things so much harder, or so much easier depending on the mindset we adopt. In all I do, my goal is to help others see how to live more productively and positively and to understand that when they take responsibility, stop making excuses and OWN their adversity, they become stronger people and true potential is revealed.I am also proud to have: - Bachelors and Masters degrees
