I am a veterinarian with a special interest in reindeer, wildlife and conservation medicine. Infectious diseases, anaesthesia, zoonoses, rural practice, cross-disciplinary approaches and One Health are the topics where my passion lies. What have I done so far?I am working as a vet in mixed animal practice. I have been to several externships and courses regarding to wildlife and zoo animal vet care, conservation, immobilization and animal management. In Uni Helsinki and during my exchange in Uni Pretoria I took a lot wildlife / game management courses. I have also experience on AI of cattle and working as a canine genetics research assistant.What have I done outside vet medicine?2 years dance & athletics education in breaking (breakdance) 2019-2021 in Åsa Folkhögskola, Sweden; a worldwide-known dance education school specialised in streetdance. Specification: Breaking, fulltime-studying.Dancing + physical, acrobatics and movement training 4-6 hours every day, besides dance and black / hiphop culture and history education. For own improvement, doesn’t qualify to a profession.I have worked in security services, marketing, customer service, photographing and writing.I am passionate and hard-working breaker and dancer, and into hip hop culture in general. Passionate for music, art and culture. I enjoy working out, acrobatics, running and other sports. Travel a lot. As a kid I hunted and was an enthusiastic bird watcher.I’ve done multiple sports instructor courses. Other:I have been a board member in several student organizations, and organized surgical clubs for students and lectures about exotic animals and animal welfare.I've attended to conferences and workshops of EAZWV (European Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians) and EWDA (European Wildlife Disease Association), and I am a country rep of EWDA Student Chapter.My thesis:Kaarakainen H. It is not supposed to be an all-inclusive guide, since the topic is broad, but rather an interesting overview that gives a rough idea what kind of things have to be considered in captures and what is the role of captures in science. As an example I also give short insight into large carnivore research in my country (Finland).
