Responsibilities include:- Design of new and customised solid/liquid separating equipment including thickeners/clarifiers, filters and related plant equipment in the industrial sectors.- Research & Development of potential products to keep the company on the forefront of its industry.- Standardisation of existing products.- Pre-design of equipment for capital sales and feasibility studies.- Managing and verifying designs of subcontractors.Designs include the extensive use of:- Finite Element Analysis (FEA)- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)- International and local design codes and standards- Sound Engineering Practice

Design and verify designs of pressure equipment according to all the major construction codes including ASME BPVC, API 650/620/579, PD 5500, EN 13445, AD Merkblätter and others. Specialise in items not covered by the Codes by means of Finite Element Analysis.General Mechanical Engineering design and consultation in the Petrochemical and Mining sector focusing on (but not limited to) Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Student engineers helps the mechanical engineers at Axis Mechanical Design to design and verify mechanical designs according to various international design/construction codes. The student engineer also do mechanical drafting which is a critical step in the process of joining the Mechanical Engineering industry.The highly paced environment forces the student to quickly get involved and start learning about the extremely wide industry of Mechanical Engineering.

Tubecon provides vacation work for current engineering students. The work provides practical training and experience in the professional working environment.During the six weeks, the student works together with the engineers at Tubecon and help them design and assemble machines that are then used in Tubecon's steel pipe manufacturing.
