Accountable to Country Director, my position cuts across all the programs currently implemented by PC-Ethiopia and supports Country Director in fundraising and research. This included education, livelihood development, child protection, gender and migration thematic areas. My postion in Council started as a lead for FCDO-funded Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) Leave No Girl Behind project for marginalized adolescent girls' transition to improved livelihood opportunity and education. It envisages coordination of the partnership as Population Council is the lead agency in a consortium with Plan International and Humanity Inclusion. My managerial role involves direct supervision of project sites operation and staff, office administration and financial management. The project is being implemented in Addis Ababa, Adama, Bahir Dar and Shashemane cities. Currently I am serving as the lead manager of PC-Ethiopia programs/interventions related to girls’ education, child domestic workers, girls’ migration and trafficking, mental health/psycho social support and business skill/employment as well as other development projects.

Being accountable to Country Representative, responsible for developing and managing Foundation’s educational programme initiatives and livelihood development in line with the Foundation’s strategy.

Being the focal person for the overall education program run by the foundation, I coordinate the program with basic principle of sustainable rural integrated community development and equity and quality education. This includes:-Conduct need assessment, project appraisals and inter-sectoral planning by ensuring sustainability and integration of educational interventions with other Menschen für Menschen rural development programs in WaSH, health, agriculture, women development and saving & credit. -Ensures schools constructed and supported by the foundation address child-friendly school, child development and equity aspects in facilities design and integrated interventions in WaSH, girls’ education, health, nutrition and other inter-sectoral areas. -Provide technical guidance and monitor project implementation practices to ensure donors and government requirements are complied as stipulated in the respective agreement and also be appealing for more collaboration. -Devise mechanisms and assist projects to ensure handed-over schools and TVETs to the government are well managed for sustainable delivery of equity and quality education and increased community participation and ownership.-Monitor and evaluate education program of the foundation against indicators established for equity and access to quality education together with M&E Coordinator, and ensure learning taken place.-Lead development and provision of training for teachers in pedagogic and English language improvement, and for PTA, school management, government officials and other committees per identified needs.-Monitor support given for Woreda education offices in functional adult literacy trainings.-Lead development of IEC-BCC materials -Work with Menschen für Menschen Agro-technology College on research & development and community outreach.-As management staff, engage in strategic and higher decision makings at organization level, procurement and staff recruitment.

Being the focal person for the overall education program run by the organization in six regions, I coordinate the program with basic principle of sustainable transformation through holistic approach and inclusive education for the poorest of the poor. This includes,-Provide technical guidance and monitor project implementation practices to ensure donors and government requirements are complied as stipulated in the respective agreement and for inclusive education of the poorest of the poor. -Coordinate the implementation of Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE), Non-formal education, General Education, Functional Adult Literacy programs in schools run by the organization in six regions. -Monitor child well-being and child development aspects are adequately addressed in the schools run by Hope Enterprises and government schools supported and facilitate capacity building activities to social workers, teachers and care-givers-Conduct need assessments and prepare project proposals related to educational areas in line with identified funding opportunities-Monitor and evaluate education program of the organization against indicators established for equity and access to quality education to the poorest of the poor together with PMEL officer, and ensure learning taken place.-Lead development and provision of trainings and capacity building for teachers, government officials, PTA and parents as per identified needs.-Prepare annual plan and budget of overall education program for the different donors, board and government.-Spearhead recruitment process of beneficiaries to ensure priority is given for inclusive education of poorest of the poor-As senior management staff engage in strategic and higher decision makings at organization level

Being the head of school from early child education to end of secondary school, I monitor the overall day to day activities and teaching-learning process. This includes supervision 54 teaching and 25 administrative staff, engage in day to day communication with government officials, parents, school board and other stakeholders, and support teachers and student for better learning outcome.

Being communication officer for the Ethiopian peacekeeping contingent in Burundi, I was managing all incoming and outgoing communication, which include translation of correspondence, represent in briefings, present PowerPoint for UN officials, peacekeeping contingent from other countries and local government.
