During my university career, I created, produced and presented three shows. Radio was a great outlet for my imagination and ideas and a great way to hone my presenter and dj skills. In my first year at Cardiff, I co-hosted an afternoon show that reviewed different genres of musics. The tastes of my co-hosts and I were different which made for great diverse content!When I transferred to Exeter, I eagerly joined Xpression FM. A new university and a new station meant I had to meet and connect with a whole new student body. I auditioned to be the host of the morning show “The Exeword". I got the slot and consequently had the responsibility of creating two hours worth of content. I discussed all things student life with other presenters: Socials, subjects, night life and all! Perfect content for young adults. This show I worked on only promoted my ability to be a host!Having returned to Exeter from an incredible adventure, with a new found confidence, I wanted to explore what my companions had been up to in their respective countries for the year! Consequently "Jon and Hen Leave the Den" was created! An evening show where I interviewed various guest about their experiences living in a foreign land!

Over the last two years, I have delivered one-on-one tuition in Spanish. I have tutored GCSE students and I found helping them build their confidence in their ability to achieve academically thoroughly rewarding. I pursued tuition because, as a dyslexic student myself, I have faced and conquered challenges personally, so I understand the frustration students can sometimes face when grasping new concepts. Having developed a selection of strategies and techniques to enable me to overcome the challenges I faced, and to neutralize the effect of my dyslexia, I can share advice and techniques with students to help them do the same.

During my year abroad I applied for work as an English Language assistant. I was one of a handful of successful applicants and placed in a middle school in a small town. This experience was a great form of character building for me. My creative style and presentation skills were put to the test as I had to design lessons that appealed to a particular age group who aren’t easy to engage academically. I did this by making classes, interactive, chatty, fun and relevant. This only enhanced my imagination and presenting skills. I also gained many organisational and communication skills being in this work environment.
