ExtraCare Charitable Trust develops and operates large-scale retirement villages which offer homes older people want, an active lifestyle they can enjoy and care if it’s needed. That is particularly the case now, as the team works tirelessly to keep our residents safe and well during the pandemic. Within the Trust’s Executive Leadership team, I hold responsibility for the People Strategy (overseeing the recruitment, development and management of our talented workforce of 1,200+ staff and 2,000+ volunteers); our Marketing and Communications function including stakeholder management and media relations; our Retail subsidiary (comprising 40+ charity shops across the UK); and Agile Project Management Office and our research and innovation function (working with universities and research partners on the deployment of innovations to support our residents remain independent and well for longer).

Responsible for the Communications and Marketing function at the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, the go-to place for manufacturing technology innovation in the UK. Our seven HVM Catapult centres around the country offer access to world-class equipment, expertise and collaborative opportunities. We help manufacturing businesses of all sizes turn ideas into commercial applications by addressing the gap between technology concept and commercialisation. We develop new technology solutions, and stimulate the transfer of existing technologies from one sector (eg aerospace) into other sectors (eg medical devices or construction). I work across the HVM Catapult network to articulate our key messages and success stories, conduct PR, engage with key stakeholders in Westminster, Whitehall and partner organisations, oversee our digital communications and lead our events programme.

Leading a portfolio of projects in the area of mitigating and adapting to Climate Change, and the use of digital technologies to facilitate transnational business exchanges and promote competitiveness. Engaging with partners in the Region as well as across Europe and the rest of the world around the climate chang, innovation and competitiveness agenda.
