The two products I worked with were Mirena and Kyleena, both hormonal intrauterine devices (IUDs).Mirena, known as the Mirena IUD, was currently the only hormonal IUD available in the Brazilian market. It serves three main purposes: long-term contraception for 5 years, treatment for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB), and protection against endometrial hyperplasia.In early 2019, the company positioned Mirena primarily for contraception. However, by the end of the year, with the anticipation of a new IUD (Kyleena) joining the Bayer Women’s Health product portfolio, a repositioning effort began. Now, Mirena’s key attribute communicated was its second indication—treatment for AUB—allowing space for Kyleena to target contraceptive-seeking patients. Initially, I was exclusively assigned to the upcoming product, adapting global Bayer materials and creating local content for a successful launch, including packaging and a mini-uterus model simulating IUD insertion.As the team grew, a new manager and analyst were hired, each dedicated to a specific product.
