I began my journey with the Bainbridge Island Fire Department as a high school Cadet and devoted three years to this role. After graduating from the Cadet program, I was accepted into the fire academy. At 19, I graduated from the fire academy, earning my IFSAC Firefighter Level 1 certification, having already become a certified EMT-B at 18. I was soon promoted to Cadet Advisor, responsible for training and supervising all JR Cadets. During my three-year tenure as Resident Firefighter/EMT-B, I also served on the Department's Personnel Committee. I was promoted to Acting Captain and Interior Crew Leader in 2005. I excelled as a member of the RIT team and received special training to rescue trapped and injured Firefighters.
