The Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Program for North East is implemented by the North East Development Commission (NEDC). Engaged on a Thirdparty basis as a KEY EXPERT with Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist responsibilities, I plan, conduct and report relevant activities towards improving program effectiveness.

As the State Manager, I was responsible for managing International Alert’s scope of work in Benue for a UN WOMEN supported project on Women, Peace and Security (WPS), funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Nigeria. The overall programme was implemented in Benue and Bauchi States. It increased women’s effective participation in peace and security processes, peace negotiations, conflict prevention and resolution; and improved public perception on the role of women in peace and security, at all levels. The project gave me opportunity to support targeted stakeholders to implement and monitor the National Action Plan on WPS at state level; supported the establishment of a women’s mediation platform; and established media initiatives to change perceptions on Women, Peace and Security (WPS). I managed the day-to-day implementation of the project in Benue from a programme and financial perspective, including ensuring adequate monitoring mechanisms. I supervised a programme/M&E officer and coordinated with Alert’s Senior Gender Adviser, Senior Conflict Sensitivity Adviser and finance, operations and monitoring and evaluation teams. I coordinated with the Bauchi State Manager to ensure synergy and learning across the whole project and I liaised with relevant stakeholders, including government and other INGOs in Benue. I ensured the project was executed in compliance with International Alert, donor and government regulations.

Henry Akya has successfully contributed to MSH's positive development impact in Niger state through strengthening leadership and management capacity in civil society and state ministries & Agencies, and successfully implemented Prevention, Organization, Care and Treatment (ProACT) project which ended on November 14, 2016. On the ProACT project, Henry has recorded achievements which include:• Led the development and implementation of MSH-Niger M&E plan• Ensured quality and timely data reporting to the state (monthly) and USAID for three years (SAPR and APR through DHIS/DATIM) and quarterly narrative report; • Deployed and ensured the use of National harmonized HIV/AIDS tools across 16 comprehensive treatment and care sites and 98 PMTCT standalone sites • Built the capacity of 16 comprehensive treatment and care sites, 98 PMTCT standalone sites and 3 CSOs data documentation and reporting. • Supervised 4 M&E Officers and 34 Data Clerks who ensured timely data compilation• Revitalized the state M&E TWG which was inactive after just a single meeting upon inauguration• Ensured improved Niger SACA eNNRIMS/DHIS 2.0 reporting rate from 0% to average of 70% • Participated and effectively contributed to organizational capacity and development of 3 CSOs in Niger state. • Led the pilot and subsequent roll out of MSH Electronic Medical Record system (EMR) for service delivery and reporting. • Contributed to the successful completion of the MSH 7 years ProACT project in Niger.• Finalized the MSH Niger ProACT End of Project dissemination report/presentation. He is absolved to work on the MSH's bridge project- Care and Treatment for Sustained Support (CaTSS) as the lead M&E Specialist in Niger.

Henry Akya is a development worker in Benue State. He is a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer that has worked on various USAID and DFID HIV/AIDS funded Projects. He is a trainer and a community mobilizer.Currently collects, collate and compile reports for BenSACA. He also maintains BenSACA's Data Base. Vast in Monitoring and Evaluation and report compilation.
