With a degree in psychology and a decade of experience in construction I have developed strong abstract thinking abilities coupled with a firmly grounded problem solving capacity. I am well equipped to translate between high concept, abstract theories and practical, provable changes. I enjoy applying psychological theories to the world of work, and enjoy developing a nuanced understanding of the psychosocial interactions and processes that I engage in and observe.Stakeholder engagement is essential on building sites, where many different contractors will need to negotiate access to space and other shared resources. I engage the various stakeholders by understanding their perspectives and needs, and frame requests and perspectives in such a way as to foster collaboration and co-operation between stakeholders. I also make it my goal to enhance and promote the workplace safety practices and culture. I frame safe work practices as an essential aspect of doing the job (tapping into important competency needs and pride of work to encourage safety). Contributing to everyone getting home safely is an important aspect of how I add value.By spending as much time on construction sites as in university lecture theatres, I have become comfortable in a wide range of social settings and I communicate effectively with everyone from research professors to brick layers, allowing me to engage a diverse range of stakeholders. Traits: I am a constant learner with a strong work ethic. I am comfortable in a diverse range of social environments. I apply myself to everything that I do, no matter how big or small. I am well equipped to learn new information quickly and effectively- whatever needs to be done, I can do it or quickly learn to do it.I am always keen to connect with people interested in suicide prevention, mental health, workplace culture and safety.
