Business Intelligence Developer I
CurrentTransitioned HR LMS Platform: Assisted in moving Valero’s HR LMS from TOP Class to SAP SuccessFactors, ensuring continued access to historical reporting by building an on-premise solution to manage legacy data. Analyzed data from a large Oracle database to recreate six essential HR reports, developing a universe using IDT and building the reports in SAP WEBI over three months of dedicated work.Power BI Report Updates: Currently updating Power BI reports for the Commercial Analytics team, focusing on the Inventory Projection Tool (IPT) to enhance data-driven decision-making and improve inventory management processes.
Enterprise Architect Intern
As an Enterprise Architect Intern at Texas Farm Bureau, my primary responsibility is to develop an automated dashboard using Power BI. This dashboard will efficiently display work items for the Architecture team, organized hierarchically. Currently, the team spends significant time gathering information about each work item from Azure DevOps and creating PowerPoint presentations for monthly meetings with the Vice President. My objective is to streamline this process by automating data collection and presentation through the dashboard. This initiative aims to save time for the team and enhance the effectiveness of meetings by providing easily accessible and visually informative insights into ongoing projects.
Data Science Researcher
As an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Innovation Lab, I collaborated with a colleague, Brock Carey, under the mentorship of Dr. Henry Han on the Legal AI with Adversarial Generation for Case Holdings project. Our dedication to innovative research was recognized when we presented our work at the Southwestern Data Science Conference hosted by Baylor University, where we were honored with the Best Novel Research Paper award. This accolade validates our efforts in pushing the boundaries of Legal AI research. We tackled the inherent complexity of legal text by employing a holistic approach focused on improving NLP classification performance and enhancing accessibility to legal documents. To address class imbalances, we implemented a text Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) and a Diffusion Model, enriching the CaseHOLD dataset's distribution of case holdings. Furthermore, we streamlined legal terminology using a dictionary-based transformation, substituting intricate terms with their definitions sourced from the United States Courts' Glossary of Legal Terms. Leveraging Google's FLAN-T5 model, we conducted abstractive summarization to simplify content while preserving its accuracy. Our approach, involving model stacking and generative data augmentation, not only demonstrated enhanced NLP classification effectiveness but also laid the groundwork for demystifying legal jargon, benefiting legal professionals and the broader community alike. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to advancing the field of Data Science!
Business Intelligence Developer Intern
During my internship at Valero headquarters in San Antonio, I specialized in technical business intelligence and reporting within the information services division. The Accounting team faced a laborious process of manual data gathering in preparation for monthly meetings with Warehouse Supervisors. To address this challenge, I leveraged M language, SAP Hana, and Power BI to transform their previously manual excel based data gathering and reporting process. The result was an automated storytelling dashboard that empowered the Accounting team with data-driven insights during meetings. This automation will save substantial time, allowing the Accounting team to focus on strategic tasks and minimize errors.
Office Assistant
The purpose of the Office Assistant (OA) position is to provide administrative support to on-campus communities at Baylor University. In this way, the OA should be a helpful resource and referral agent for residents, parents, visitors, and faculty/staff in our communities. OAs are expected to uphold Campus Living & Learning’s Customer Service Standards. In addition, the OA plays a vital role in the safety and security of our residential communities by being aware of escort and visitation policies, verifying resident identity when applicable, and communicating issues of concern to other residence hall support staff.
Courtesy Clerk
I worked as a Courtesy clerk over the summer before college. My responsibilities were to bag groceries for the customers, maintain the store’s cleanliness, stock shelves, greet customers, and ensure customers had a positive shopping experience. I learned valuable skills of time management and interpersonal customer service skills.
Mowater Data Science Intern
This was my second year in this program. The project and data I worked on were provided by Hazen and Sawyer. Our main task was to identify when filter cleanings occurred based on variables such as pressure, conductivity, flow rate, and salt passage. In order to do so, we isolated the time frames between potential cleaning events and calculated the percent change of each of the variables within them to build a model. We built a logistic regression model to predict when a filter cleaning was next required
Mowater Data Science Intern
The MoWaTER Data Science Fellows Program is a five-week program that gives undergraduate students experience working on a real data science problem. My team worked on a project where we analyzed data from a firm called Aqua Aerobic, Inc involving their patented Aqua-Aerobic Cloth Media Filter system. Our team received a tremendous amount of data consisting of influent and effluent water quality parameters from 12 separate storm events. The main goal was to build a mathematical model which would predict the backwash volume of the filter using values such as loading rates and whether or not coagulant was used. Our second goal was to analyze the overall percent of water used for backwash cycles during storm weather events. The most difficult part of this project was wrangling the data into a usable form. There were a plethora of complications such as inconsistent time intervals in the data collection and possible errors to the point that the team had to remove an entire event from the data set.
Consultative Sales Associate
I worked a summer job as a cashier and a sales associate at Sears in Escondido. My job was to greet customers, help them find products, and ensure they have a pleasant shopping experience.
