Henry Claesson is currently a senior in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech and will graduate in May 2022. He has two and a half years of experience being involved in Undergraduate Research in both the Engineering Education Department and the Mechanical Engineering Department. He is a hardworking and versatile individual who can balance multiple projects while still delivering quality results. • Once the pandemic began, he wrote a proposal for and began an undergraduate research project to help educators better understand what online tools will be most effective when helping engineering students collaborate remotely. • He also participates in additive manufacturing research with a focus on extrusion process machines. His current project involves developing a multi-process machine capable of withstanding extreme temperatures. • Both research projects have been paired with a full course load, an internship, and competing in varsity athletics. Time management and dedication are critical to Henry’s performance. Henry has a passion for taking on difficult mechanical engineering challenges and seeing projects through to the end. He wants to help companies further their manufacturing capabilities by leveraging his technical and educational background.
