As a trained historian I have been taught how to gather sources, extract important data, consolidate it into one meaningful work, and connect that to a great historical context. Historians like me can take a single source, determine if it is a primary source, a secondary source, or a form of popular history and then determine the value of said source.I have also been trained to locate a wide variety of sources that may be hard to find, or find a variety that offer several different points of view to either confirm an inquiry, or broaden an understanding of a certain topic. From there we can learn to appreciate why things are the way they are, and understand how they came to be.Being trained in history has also greatly sharpened my critical writing skills and allowed me to write out complex thoughts, and be able to interpret them to a greater general audience. But it is not just an general history that is written, these writings showcase our cultural ancestry and allow us a better look at our heritage.My goal in life is to either help educate others, or work in politics and help shape policy. I have a deep passion for history and believe that every citizen should have a general understanding of their country's history and culture. I would love to work in any field that involves educating the uninformed but would like to obtain an M.A. and a P.h.D. and become a history professor.In addition I have a deep understanding of politics and current events. If I do not work in education I would also hope to work in public office as a civil servant, either as an elected official or a party official.
