Bell Aliant Regional Communications 1999 - 2011Sr. Financial Advisor - Business Sales – Atlantic, Quebec & Ontario Responsible for the financial support requirements of Business Sales for both Private & Public Sector organizations, serving the telecommunications and IT requirements of this regions business customers. This group’s annual gross sales are in excess of $500M order of magnitude, employing some150 people. The key function of this position is providing consulting to the group on all financial matters including budget preparation, variance analysis, planning and control. Assisting management with the assessment of informational needs, including, KPI and Balanced Scorecards, and actively participating in the preparation and delivery of action plans to address the operational requirements of the group. Acadia University 1995 - 1999Manager of Financial ServicesResponsible for the financial reporting requirements for all faculty and administrative departments of the university, including preparation of the annual operating budget. Management of the Business Office, consisting of complement of 17, including a unionized administrative support staff of 14. Directly responsible for university purchasing, including policy, procedures and administration, and preparation of RFPs. Responsible for University insurance and risk management requirements, and providing ongoing assistance and support to the Chief Financial Officer in achieving the university’s financial mandate.Accomplishments:Developed a comprehensive monthly financial reporting package, which assisted senior administration in the management of their functional areas.Project Leader – Acadia Advantage Telecommunications Initiative – A project which involved the wiring of the entire campus infrastructure, bringing both voice and data capabilities to 1400 students in residence and electronic classrooms.Actively participated in beta site testing of the client server Windows-based version of the university’s financial software (Colleague). Acadia became the first university in North America to test this software and currently uses it campus wide.Member of the implementation team that introduced and trained user departments in the use of on-line purchase requisitions and general ledger inquiry.
