As a software solutions intern for Pediatric Partners of Virginia (PPV), I was tasked with extraction and organization of negotiated insurance rate data between PPV, seven other local practices, and major insurance companies such as Anthem. I utilized Python and SQLite in order to generate databases from massive JSON files which were maintained in AWS S3 buckets. AWS Lambda functions were employed to run all necessary queries which in turn generated formatted Excel files containing all necessary rate data.

Due to my proclivity towards mathematics, helping K-12 students with math topics ranging from basic arithmetic to introductory calculus was a fulfilling job role. Utilizing the Mathnasium Method, which focused on individual work with guidance on demand, I taught four to six students at a time. I had to step away from this role when moving to Blacksburg to pursue my bachelor’s degree.
